Handmade quilt by Mandan, Hidatsa, and Arikara Nation

The Mandan, Hidatsa, and Arikara Nation crafted this appliqued quilt to honor GFWC North Dakota for its service in securing the placement of a statue of Sakakawea in National Statuary Hall in the U.S. Capitol. This quilt represents not only a fine Native American handicraft, but also the hard work and dedication of national, state, and local GFWC members in recognizing the contributions of a prominent Native American woman and honoring GFWC's long history of support for Native American culture and communities.
