The Agrotiki Padidi Folia Voriou Ellasos (Rural Childrens Nests of Northern Greece), Thessaloniki, Greece, Community Achievement Contest project, 1956-1958, was to operate day care facilities for preschool children in rural Greece. Prior to the Community Achievement Contest period, the club opened three homes for the care of preschool children. Trained personnel supervise recreation and special education programs, as well as provide the childing with baths and three meals a day. In July 1957, a fourth home was opened in the village of Kyrjia, Greece, for 150 children. CIP 1956-1958.06 - Community Improvement Projects

The Orlinda Childs Pierce College Alumnae Association, Athens, Greece, Community Achievement Contest project, 1956-1958, was to assist the Orlinda Childs Pierce College in the rehabilitation of Neochorakion, a small village located 161 miles northwest of Athens, with a population of 219 people (42 families). The village was burned and pillaged multiple times between 1943 and 1949. To successfully complete this project, the Alumnae Association raised funds and supplies by holding bazaars and partnering with Greek and foreign organizations, such as the Greek Ministries of Welfare, Save the Children's Fund, Greek Red Cross, and the American Women's Organization in Greece. The Women's Society of Lesbos, Mytilini, Greece, Community Improvement Program project, 1970-1972, was to help rehabilitate the community after suffering the economic fallout of a poor olive harvest. To successfully complete this project, the Women's Society of Lesbos depended on donations from within the community and assistance from local businesses. With this cooperation the club accomplished numerous acts of charity such as sending the ill to Athens for medical aid, providing children with clothing and toys, and providing entertainment for the elderly and disabled.
