The Toccoa Woman's Club, Toccoa, Georgia, Community Improvement Program project, 1964-1966, was to build and finance a new, 100 bed hospital.
To successfully complete this project, the Toccoa Woman's Club educated themselves on the state laws regarding inspecting public records and investigated the circumstances surrounding a proposed hospital addition. The club published their findings in the local newspaper and encouraged the community to become involved. The club donated funds to establish a hospital building fund and coordinated an educational campaign to inform community members about the need of a new hospital and funding.
The Toccoa Woman's Club received $1,000 as a national finalist in the GFWC Community Improvement Program for 1964-1966.
